Newly Elected Sarpanches Send Invites for Oath-Taking With Govt Logos

Invitations, social media outreach mark festive build-up to December 22 ceremonies

Adilabad: Some newly elected sarpanches and upa-sarpanches in the erstwhile Adilabad district are sending personal invitations for their oath-taking ceremonies, designed with the Telangana government logo and featuring their photographs seated at official desks, holding pens, with nameplates identifying them as sarpanch.

Many of the elected sarpanches have begun publicising their oath-taking ceremonies on social media and are planning grand celebrations on December 22. Preparations are already underway in major gram panchayats, where the event is being treated as a significant occasion.

Originally scheduled for December 20, the oath-taking was postponed to December 22 following requests to the panchayat raj department, citing the absence of an auspicious muhurat on the earlier date.

The elected sarpanches are also planning to decorate gram panchayat offices with flowers and clean the premises to create a festive ambience for the ceremony. Several have posted invitation cards on social media platforms, inviting villagers, supporters, and local MLAs and MPs to attend the oath-taking at their respective gram panchayats. Some elected representatives have also been visiting households to personally invite families, offering bottu as part of the outreach.

Kodapa Shankar, elected sarpanch of Mogavelli gram panchayat in Bejjur mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, shared his invitation across social media groups, inviting villagers and supporters to the oath-taking ceremony.

“We are planning to celebrate the oath-taking day like a festival. It is an auspicious occasion and a first-time experience for newly elected sarpanches, upa-sarpanches and ward members,” Shankar said.

Similarly, Jadhav Parameshwar, elected sarpanch of Bethalguda gram panchayat in Narnoor mandal, posted invitations with a Telangana gram panchayat logo background, extending the invite on behalf of the Jadhav family in Adilabad district.

Enuka Srihari, elected sarpanch, and Kodra Ravinder Goud, elected upa-sarpanch of Vootpalli Sarangapalli gram panchayat in Bejjur mandal, circulated invitations through WhatsApp groups and Facebook, seeking the blessings of villagers, officials and supporters, and pledging to work for the development of the gram panchayat.

D. Chandrasekhar, elected sarpanch of Mavala gram panchayat, told Deccan Chronicle that he, along with Kisan Cell State vice-president B. Srikanth Reddy, would visit all households in the gram panchayat to thank voters. “We will begin the day with a special puja at the Ramalayam before starting our outreach,” he said.

Meanwhile, DCC president Naresh Jadhav, former minister Jogu Ramanna of the BRS, BJP MLA Payal Shankar and other senior leaders have been felicitating the newly elected sarpanches and ward members. Several elected representatives have also invited their respective MLAs, party in-charges and district party presidents to attend the oath-taking ceremonies scheduled for December 22.
