New Teaching Method Takes Root
The child-led session involved one student teaching a lesson to classmates, a format rarely attempted in public schools

HYDERABAD: A government school in Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar district, became the testing ground for a teaching method introduced decades ago by Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman. The idea is that when students explain concepts to their peers, they internalise the material far more thoroughly than through passive learning. Telangana School Education principal secretary Dr Yogita Rana chose a primary school student to try this approach and observed the process herself.
The child-led session involved one student teaching a lesson to classmates, a format rarely attempted in public schools. Observers said the student delivered the content with clarity and confidence, prompting praise from officials present. As a gesture of appreciation, Dr Rana presented the student with a reward after the session concluded.
Officials described the attempt as part of ongoing efforts to encourage deeper engagement with academic material in foundational classes.
