New ECHS Facility to Serve Veterans in Anantapur
ECHS polyclinics function as the first point of healthcare access for eligible veterans, offering outpatient consultations, diagnostic services, referrals and follow-up care.

Hyderabad:A new Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) polyclinic was inaugurated in Anantapur on Saturday to provide medical services to retired defence personnel and their dependents. The polyclinic was inaugurated by Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area, in the presence of civil administration representatives, military personnel and ex-servicemen from Anantapur and neighbouring areas.
ECHS polyclinics function as the first point of healthcare access for eligible veterans, offering outpatient consultations, diagnostic services, referrals and follow-up care. Officials said the Anantapur facility was established through coordination between civil authorities and the Armed Forces to ensure medical services are available closer to beneficiaries’ residences.
The polyclinic will provide general medical consultations, diagnostic support, specialised treatment services and rehabilitation care required by ex-servicemen and their families. Officials noted that the availability of diagnostic facilities locally would significantly reduce the need for beneficiaries to travel long distances for routine consultations and follow-ups.
Veterans attending the inauguration said the absence of a nearby ECHS facility earlier had forced them to travel repeatedly to other centres, causing hardship, especially for elderly patients. Civil administration representatives said the new polyclinic would help streamline healthcare access for registered ECHS beneficiaries in the district.
