NEET-UG 2025 Held Smoothly Across Telangana

Police ensure a smooth exam day with crowd management

Hyderabad: Thousands of aspiring medical students appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 on Sunday across the state. The exam was conducted without incident, under strict security measures.

However, at the Osmania University science and mathematics centre, two students were not allowed in as they arrived after the gate closing time. A student allotted to a centre at Kanchanbagh mistakenly went to the RCI School at Balapur. Police personnel present at the centre immediately took her to the correct centre.

Students and subject experts said the overall paper was tough, while Physics had lengthy and tough questions, Chemistry and Biology were manageable. A. Rishika said, “I attempted Physics last and was not able to manage the time.” For Kalpana Gaharwar, the Biology paper went fine, Chemistry was doable and Physics was tough and tricky. “Studying the NCERT syllabus helped me answer all the questions,” she said.

M. Namratha was upset, feeling some topics were unfamiliar. She was awaiting the official key.

Experts said the marks in Physics could well be the deciding factor. Fifty was seen as a good score out of 180 marks.

V. Purushotham Rao, a chemistry faculty, said, “In chemistry, four to five questions were beyond the NCERT level. Out of 45 questions, 25 were easy, 10 moderate and 10 tough. Scoring 120 and above will be good.” For Biology (Botany and Zoology), 300 and above is a good score,” he added. He said this time the cutoff will be lower than last year.

B. Rama Krishna, NEET coordinator at a private college, said, “This year the paper appeared 20 per cent lengthier and tougher and featured high-level questions. Students took more time to understand and attempt them.”

On their part, police personnel made arrangements to ensure that all candidates reached their examination centres in time. North zone traffic ACP Shankar Rao said that personnel had been deployed for the 11 centres in the jurisdiction, where 5,520 candidates took the exam. Temporary ‘no parking’ zones had been ensured so that students could drive up to centres.

Earlier, the exam was conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm, with the gates shut at 1.30 pm, at 190 centres. Students started arriving at the examination centres early to avoid the last-minute rush at the registration and biometric authentication centres.

In many cases, parents accompanied their children, providing last-minute support and confidence, and waited outside the gates for them to return. Students were allowed to carry only the admit card, ID proof, and passport-size photos. The state health department has appointed nodal officers and ambulances, and medical teams are kept on standby.

The National Testing Agency appointed observers and chief superintendents at the centres. NEET-UG is held for admission to MBBS, BDS, Nursing, AYUSH, Veterinary and medical and paramedical courses.
