NDA Confident Of VP Poll Win, Says Kishan

Kishan Reddy said the NDA had adequate strength to secure victory without support from other parties

Hyderabad:Union minister G. Kishan Reddy accused the Opposition, particularly the Congress, of using former Supreme Court judge Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy (retd) by fielding him in the Vice Presidential election, where defeat was certain. Speaking informally with the media, Kishan Reddy said the NDA had adequate strength to secure victory without support from other parties. When asked about reaching out to neutral groups such as the BRS, he said no such efforts had been made.

On the Kaleshwaram scam, Kishan Reddy reiterated his demand for a CBI probe to expose those responsible for large-scale losses to the state exchequer. Taking a swipe at BRS leaders who claimed the situation would have been better under their rule, he asked whether they would have “manufactured urea in farmhouse setups” had they been in power. He urged farmers not to hoard urea and assured that the Centre would supply the full quota allocated to Telangana, attributing the recent shortfall in production to technical issues.

The minister stressed the need for a special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, where he claimed there were nearly four lakh illegal voters, including many with double entries. He noted that Bihar’s voter list had even greater irregularities but insisted the NDA enjoyed a favourable political climate there.

On political defections, he dismissed the view that BJP’s growth depended solely on leaders crossing over from other parties. He emphasised that women and farmers were rallying behind the BJP. While acknowledging that MLAs frequently switch loyalties in Telangana, he insisted any leader wishing to join the BJP must first resign from their existing party.

Taking aim at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy said he had “forgotten his stature” by using abusive language in public discourse.
