National Anthem Tribute Features Rare Mayur Veena

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s Hawaiian slide guitarist Jaywant Naidu and Punjab Mayur Veena artist Anshdeep Singh have launched a video to commemorate the 75 years of the national anthem, using a special instrument, the Mayur Veena.
The Mayur Veena, Taus in Persian, a rare instrument, is mainly used in Sikh devotional music.
Speaking about the project Jawant Naidu said, “Mayur Veena is one of the many rare musical instruments of India and its sound resonates the human voice like the sarangi. Our video collaboration main aim is to introduce such rare instrument to mainstream music platform.”
“Rare instruments like the Mayur Veena should be included in classical programmes, otherwise they might disappear,” Naidu told Deccan Chronicle. He added that his video featured the Largest Tricolour at Sanjeevaiah Park.
Anshdeep Singh said they would soon be launching another album, ‘Call of peacock’ based on the Raga Sindhu Bhairavi.
