The villagers identified leopard pugmarks in the fields and shared this information with the authorities. They also reported that a goat had recently been attacked, heightening their concerns about the animal’s presence in the area.
On Friday, forest officials visited Nandigam village to examine the pugmarks and interacted with residents to gather more information about the leopard’s movements. According to locals, the leopard has been seen roaming around Nandigam, Aljapur, and Yamcha villages in Navipet mandal, all situated near the Godavari River.
Notably, two years ago, forest officials had set up traps in the region and successfully captured a leopard. Villagers now suspect that leopard activity continues in the area. Meanwhile, constant vehicular traffic near Yamcha village, which lies along the Nizamabad-Basar highway, adds to the risk and concern.
