Namratha’s Agents Helped Lure Surrogates

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad police have established the alleged role of Dhanasri Santoshi and Kalyani, associates of Namratha, in a growing illegal surrogacy racket linked to Universal Srushti Fertility Centres.

According to investigators, Namratha and her staff organised free medical camps in rural areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, targeting financially vulnerable women and luring them into surrogacy arrangements under the guise of medical assistance.

Police have arrested two more individuals, including Kalyani, in connection with the case. On Saturday, investigation officers took Namratha, Kalyani and Santoshi into custody for questioning. While Santoshi oversaw operations in Hyderabad and across Telangana, Kalyani handled activities in Visakhapatnam.

Sources said Namratha instructed her team to conduct medical camps in villages to identify women in financial distress. Using Kalyani and Santoshi as intermediaries, women were offered large commissions to become surrogate mothers.

“Namratha managed the intending couples from Hyderabad, while her staff lured women from rural areas. The surrogacy procedures and deliveries were conducted in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam,” sources said.

After childbirth, the newborns were brought to Hyderabad, where Namratha allegedly handed them over to couples in exchange for payments ranging from ₹15 lakh to ₹30 lakh. The police said she amassed significant wealth from IVF and surrogacy procedures, which was then invested in real estate in Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

During her second day in custody, Namratha reportedly told police that all procedures were carried out at the request of patients and denied any violation of surrogacy rules. The police will continue to question the three accused for three days as per court directions.
