Hyderabad: A magistrate court at Nampally on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against environment minister Konda Surekha for violation of court orders in the criminal defamation case filed by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, which stemmed from her remarks on the divorce of actor Naga Chaitanya and actress Samantha.
The court had earlier ordered Surekha to be present when the trial commenced on Thursday. Surekha neither appeared before the court nor filed an exemption application for non-appearance.
Siddarth Pogula, counsel for Rama Rao. informed the court that this was not the first time and that Surekha had repeatedly remained absent without any justification.
Taking serious note of her continued non-appearance and non cooperation with the proceedings, the court issued the NBW for securing her presence and adjourned the case to February 5 next.
