Nalgonda: Unidentified persons drape “Indiramma Sari” to the Telangana Thalli statue at NG Coellege junction in Nalgonda, creating tension as the BRS members staged a protest and washed the statue with milk on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, Indiramma saris, which were distributed to the women by the state government, appeared draping the Telangana Thalli statue, which was set up by the Telangana activists near NG College in Nalgonda.

It was suspected that unidentified persons had done the act on Saturday night.

After noticing it, the BRS leaders rushed to the place and removed the Indiramma sari from the Telangana Thalli statue.

They also performed the cleaning of the statue with milk.

Tension prevailed when the BRS members staged a protest at the statue for some time, demanding action against the person, who have involvement in the incident.

Former Nalgonda MLA and BRS leader Kancherla Bhupal Reddy said draping the Indiramma sari to the Telangana Thalli statue was nothing but insulting the sentiment of five crore people of Telangana.

Those who were Telangana traitors and opposed the formation of Telangana might have committed the action, which was not acceptable in the democracy, he added.

BRS town president Bhongiri Devender demanded that the police should identify the persons who insulted the Telangana Thalli statue and file cases against them.

He pointed out that the district police should show the same sincerity that was shown in arresting the persons who committed the NTR statue in Nalgonda in the incident of Telangana Thalli also.

Otherwise, the BRS would take up state-wide agitation, he added.
