Nakrekal MLA Opens Classrooms, Lab at Kattangur School

He called upon government teachers to work towards removing the perception that corporate schools were superior, asserting that government school teachers were highly qualified.

Nalgonda: Government Whip and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham on Monday said the state government was committed to strengthening government schools to make quality education accessible to the poor.

Along with district collector B. Chandrasekhar, he inaugurated two additional classrooms and a laboratory at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kattangur, Nalgonda district, as part of ‘Education Week’ being observed from May 11 to 17.

Addressing the gathering, Veeresham said education had been accorded top priority in the Congress government’s agenda and efforts were underway to ensure access to quality education for poor students. He said Young India Integrated Residential Schools and Telangana Public Schools would act as a “game changer” in the state’s education sector and serve as a model for the country. Modern teaching and learning equipment would be provided to government schools, he added, stating that the initiatives aimed at bringing qualitative change in the system.

He called upon government teachers to work towards removing the perception that corporate schools were superior, asserting that government school teachers were highly qualified.

Referring to student welfare, he said the government had increased mess and cosmetic charges for hostel students, which he said were neglected by the previous BRS government. He urged parents to enrol their children in government schools instead of private institutions.

District collector B. Chandrasekhar said education was a permanent asset in life. He noted that Nalgonda district recorded a pass percentage of 98.47 per cent in the Class 10 examinations, securing the tenth rank in the state.
