Nagender warns to sit before bulldozer, stop razing

Hyderabad:Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender on Wednesday warned police he would sit in front of the bulldozer if they continue with demolition of illegal structures in his constituency.

Last week, the MLA took potshots at Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) and a deputy commissioner of police (DCP).

On Wednesday, he warned that even if it would mean he loses his MLA post he would sit in front of the bulldozer and protest if the demolitions continue. He warned the police a law and order situation and asked them to stop demolitions till Chief Minister A. Reventh Reddy is back from Davos.

Citing that there are huge complexes that need to be demolished, he asked the police to put on hold the demolition exercise until Reventh Reddy is back.

As part of the operation Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments (ROPE), the Hyderabad police in coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up a demolition drive to bulldoze illegal structures near Shadan College in Chintal Basti.

When the drive started, the MLA rushed to the spot and protested the enforcement activities. "Will you stop or should I sit in front of the vehicle,” he said over the phone to a policeman from the site where the demolition drive was underway. He also told the police over phone that

people have migrated here to make a living and now they are making their lives miserable. “How can you do demolition without informing the MLA,” said the legislator.
