Mythri Movie Makers Raises Concern Over Multiplex Screening of Jetlee

He noted that Mythri had respected the exhibitors’ decision not to screen their films in those single screens until the issue was resolved.

Hyderabad: Kethireddy Sasidhar, designated partner of Mythri Movie Distributors LLP, has issued a letter addressing the non-allotment of theatres for their latest release, Jetlee, which was released on May 1, amidst a dispute between distributors and exhibitors over the revenue-sharing module.

In his statement, he acknowledged the ongoing dispute with certain single-screen theatres in Telangana regarding weekly rental and revenue-sharing terms. He noted that Mythri had respected the exhibitors’ decision not to screen their films in those single screens until the issue was resolved.

However, he expressed serious concern over the current situation involving Jetlee. According to him, the film has also been withheld from multiplex properties under the same exhibitors’ control, despite there being no disagreement over multiplex terms. He emphasized that multiplex agreements are entirely separate from the single-screen issue.

Reddy termed this move unfair, stating that blocking the film in multiplexes over an unrelated matter appears to be a form of deliberate pressure. He pointed out that using one segment of the business to influence negotiations in another goes beyond standard business practice and resembles coercion.

He further added that such actions place Mythri at an undue disadvantage and set a troubling precedent for the industry. Reaffirming the company’s commitment to fair and transparent dealings, he said that while disagreements are natural, they should be resolved independently without impacting unrelated arrangements.

Urging exhibitors to reconsider their decision, Reddy requested that Jetlee be allowed to screen in multiplexes without further delay. He reiterated that Mythri remains open to discussions on the single-screen issue, but such talks should proceed on their own merit, without affecting other business operations.

He concluded by expressing hope that the seriousness of the matter would be understood and addressed appropriately.
