MEDAK: Traffic on National Highway-44 near Kallakal on the Hyderabad–Nagpur Road came to a standstill on Sunday following the birthday celebrations of former MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao.
Congress leaders and party workers gathered in large numbers near the Bangaramma temple to mark the occasion. Hundreds of supporters accompanied Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, leading to congestion on the busy highway.
The heavy turnout resulted in a traffic jam stretching nearly five kilometres, leaving motorists stranded and causing severe inconvenience to commuters travelling between Hyderabad and Nagpur.
Several vehicle owners and travellers urged the police to take precautionary measures during such VIP birthday celebrations, especially on national highways, to avoid disruption to traffic and ensure public safety.
