Musi Corp’s Website Goes Offline Again
With no detailed plan on flood control, chemical effluent, or biodiversity revival, activists argue the process remains superficial and disconnected from ecological ground realities.

Hyderabad: The Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) website has gone offline again — this time displaying a “service unavailable” message with no official explanation so far. The portal, which was meant to share updates on restoration work, project tenders, and public consultations, was previously down for a week in March. Then, MRDCL officials claimed it was a routine update.
Water conservationists and river activists have long flagged the lack of transparency around the project. “It’s not just about how much money they’re spending,” said B.V. Subba Rao, senior environmentalist and water management expert. “We want to know what steps are actually being taken. The area being rejuvenated has the highest chemical pollution from the pharma industry. First, study that.”
Subba Rao said the French Embassy had initiated an alternative proposal earlier last year with the MRDCL, and even the Telangana government had reached out to experts like him. But there’s been little clarity since. “People’s participation and transparency in planning is important. It must be open and placed in the public domain. How they are resolving and what is crucial for people to know,” he added.
