Murmu Launches Udyan Utsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad

The nine-day festival aims to showcase the visual richness, biodiversity and heritage of Rashtrapati Nilayam

Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu announced the launch of the second edition of Udyan Utsav to be held from January 3 to 11 at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bollarum, Secunderabad.

The nine-day festival aims to showcase the visual richness, biodiversity and heritage of Rashtrapati Nilayam. The exhibition will feature a wide range of floral and agricultural exhibits from across the country, presented by Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). Visitors will have the opportunity to view and purchase various agricultural and horticultural products directly from the producers.

The Udyan Utsav will also provide interactive and educational activities for youth, school children and college students, focusing on agriculture, horticulture, health, culture and nutritional foods. Special sessions will be organised to create awareness among students about career opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.

The exhibition will serve as a platform for farmers to gain exposure to the latest advancements in agriculture and horticulture, and for agri-startups to showcase innovations to the citizens of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm during January 3 to 11. Entry will be free.

On the occasion, the President of India also released the book titled “Flora of Rashtrapati Nilayam”, documenting the rich floral diversity of the Nilayam campus.

The udyan utsav is expected to strengthen public awareness about India’s agricultural heritage, promote sustainable farming practices and encourage greater youth participation in the agriculture and allied sectors.
