Murder Attempt on Congress Leader in Warangal
According to police, the attackers intercepted Mahesh on the way, poured petrol on him and set him ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Warangal: A Congress leader was critically injured after unidentified assailants allegedly set him on fire in a late-night attack on Saturday.
The victim, Adupa Mahesh, former Congress social media state coordinator and ex-president of the 14th Division, was on his way home to NTR Nagar from SR Nagar via Koti Lingala Gudi at around 11:30 pm when the incident occurred.
According to police, the attackers intercepted Mahesh on the way, poured petrol on him and set him ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Severely injured, Mahesh managed to run to a nearby locality, where residents noticed his condition and rushed him to MGM Hospital in Warangal. His condition is said to be critical.
Based on a complaint lodged by his family members and Congress leaders, Kashibugga police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Further investigation is underway.
