KARIMNAGAR: Telangana State Munnuru Kapu Corporation chairman Bomma Sriram Chakravarthy received a grand welcome during his maiden visit to Karimnagar district on Monday. He was escorted in a bike rally from the NTR statue to Indira Gardens, where the Congress organised a felicitation programme.
City Congress president Anjan Kumar thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar for providing leadership opportunities to district leaders, stating that the appointment reflected the government’s focus on backward communities.
Later, Ponnam Prabhakar chaired a District Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at the DCC office to review public issues, including paddy procurement, voter list revision and drinking water supply.
The minister directed party workers to monitor procurement at IKP centres and prevent exploitation by middlemen and millers under the pretext of grain shrinkage. He also asked MLAs to coordinate with officials to address delays linked to the GPS-based truck tracking system.
Raising concerns over the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), he alleged attempts to delete secular votes and instructed constituency coordinators to remain vigilant. He directed the appointment of Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) in all villages to assist with voter verification.
Reviewing summer conditions, the minister said officials had been alerted to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply. He asked party workers, corporators and former sarpanches to identify shortage areas and set up free drinking water kiosks at key public locations.
