Mulugu Police Dismiss Medaram Rape Rumours As Fake
The clarification follows several hours of intense speculation online, which claimed a minor had been targeted during the peak of the tribal festival.

WARANGAL: The police on Tuesday dismissed viral social media reports alleging the rape or attempted rape of a minor girl during the Medaram Maha Jatara in Mulugu district.
In a formal press note, the police termed the rumours as false and baseless and warned that those responsible for the malicious campaign would face legal action.
The clarification follows several hours of intense speculation online, which claimed a minor had been targeted during the peak of the tribal festival.
To verify these claims, the Narlapur Police said they conducted an on-ground inquiry and reviewed field inquiry and hospital records from the festival zone. “The investigation concluded that no such incident took place. Nor was there any such complaint during the four-day event,” police claimed.
The police warned that “spreading such inflammatory news is a serious offense under the law, especially when it involves a minor and a mass public gathering.”
“We have noticed certain handles circulating these baseless allegations. We are identifying the origin of these posts. Anyone found sharing or creating misleading news regarding this non-existent incident will face arrest and prosecution under relevant sections of the BNS and IT Act,” police warned.
