Mulugu District Observes Peaceful Maoist-Called Bandh

Warangal: The state-wide bandh called by the banned Maoist organisation to protest the December 1 Chalpaka encounter, which left seven Maoists dead, was observed peacefully in the agency areas of Mulugu district on Monday.
CPI Maoist spokesperson Jagan had issued the bandh call, alleging state-sponsored fake encounters and urging voluntary participation. The bandh's impact was evident in five mandals — Wazedu, Venkatapuram, Mangapet, Eturnagaram, and Kannaigudem — where shops, schools, and businesses remained closed. Essential services like medical shops operated, but public transport was halted.
Police intensified security measures, conducting combing operations and vehicle checks in border areas, agency regions, and forest zones to prevent violence.
Meanwhile, Maoists attacked a CRPF camp in Chhattisgarh twice during their ongoing People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) week, adding to the region's tension.
