Mujahid Khan Slams BJP MP For Communal Statements

Khan questioned the BJP MP’s alleged repeated targeting of madrasas and the Muslim community under the guise of national security.

Hyderabad:Congress senior leader Mujahid Alam Khan on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent spate of what he called “inflammatory and communal statements” made by BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao.

Terming them a deliberate attempt to stoke fear and polarise society on religious lines, Khan said the BJP MP’s remarks reflected not only a dangerous mindset but also complete disregard for constitutional governance.

Khan questioned the BJP MP’s alleged repeated targeting of madrasas and the Muslim community under the guise of national security. “It appears that Raghunandan Rao has forgotten that the BJP has been in power at the Centre since 2014. If there is any illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi or Pakistani nationals in Hyderabad, then what has the Union home ministry been doing all these years,” he asked. Khan said these were baseless allegations which were not only misleading but a direct question mark on the efficiency of Union home minister Amit Shah and minister of state Bandi Sanjay.

Ridiculing Raghunandan Rao’s demand that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy disclose the number of illegal foreign nationals and madrasas in the state, Khan said, “The data of foreigners, including Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, is maintained by the Union ministry of external affairs, which is under the BJP government. If the BJP MP is so concerned, he should write to Amit Shah and Dr S. Jaishankar instead of trying to provoke the public.”
