Modi Govt Weak On China: Owaisi

MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has blasted the Modi government’s approach towards China, describing it as a series of “flip-flops” that has left India weaker after 11 years in power.

Hyderabad:MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has blasted the Modi government’s approach towards China, describing it as a series of “flip-flops” that has left India weaker after 11 years in power. In a social media post following the recent visit of Chinese ministers to India, Owaisi raised several questions that he said remain unanswered.

Owaisi asked whether the border situation had returned to the pre-conflict status of April 2020, expressing scepticism in light of the “close friendship” now being declared with China. He also questioned external affairs minister S. Jaishankar’s reported statement on Taiwan during the visit, pointing out that it marked a departure from India’s earlier stand since 2011.

Owaisi raised concerns over India’s acceptance of China’s “early harvest” trade proposals, calling it a violation of earlier agreements and demanding transparency before Parliament and the public. He questioned why China had not agreed to share real-time hydrological data on rivers with dams and whether Beijing had ceased military support to Pakistan.

Pointing to India’s widening trade deficit, Owaisi questioned the commitments China had made to reduce the imbalance, warning that current policies risk deepening dependence. He concluded that the government’s silence on these issues signalled an admission of failure in managing territory, trade and diplomacy with China.

BJP chief blames Cong. for urea crisis

Hyderabad:Telangana BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao attacked the Congress-led state government over the urea shortage, accusing it of mismanaging supplies and spreading misinformation that has created unnecessary distress among farmers.

Speaking at a Rythu Sammelan in Chanvalli, Rao asserted that the Centre had supplied surplus urea to Telangana this season, but state “mis-governance” had created bottlenecks, leaving farmers struggling. He challenged the state agriculture minister to prove the claims of shortage or step down, accusing the government of politicising the issue.

He urged farmers to give the BJP a chance in the forthcoming local body and Assembly elections to bring genuine change. He highlighted benefits extended under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Criticising the Congress for unfulfilled promises, he pointed to delays in crop loan waivers and incomplete agricultural support schemes, saying many farmers were still waiting for relief. He stressed the need for diversification into floriculture crops and praised central support for agricultural research, citing the new horticulture university in Mulugu.

Rao also condemned the state’s neglect of rural road maintenance despite `60,000 crore allocated under the PM Sadak Yojana, linking it to transport problems and accidents. He said no farmers he met had received full loan waivers and raised concerns about bankers pressuring farmers to repay loans.

The event was attended by Rangareddy Rural president Rajagopal Goud, ex-MLA Ratnam and BJP spokesperson N.V. Subhash. Farmers voiced concerns over poor infrastructure and pending financial aid. Rao urged them to reject “Congress’s failed governance” and back the BJP for a better future.

Kishan defends amendment, slams Cong.

Hyderabad:Union minister G. Kishan Reddy strongly defended the Centre’s decision to introduce the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill in Parliament, saying the reform was aimed at ensuring ethical governance and moral accountability in politics.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Kishan Reddy criticised the Congress for opposing the bill. “This amendment is not against any single party, but for all parties equally. Why is Congress behaving as if this law is meant only for them,” he questioned.

He cited ethical precedents in politics, noting how BJP stalwarts like L.K. Advani in the Hawala case of the 1990s and current Union home minister Amit Shah during the 2005 Sohrabuddin encounter case stepped down until exonerated. “Even some Chief Ministers resigned in the past when cases surfaced. Our Constitution makers never imagined a time when leaders would govern from jail, yet we have seen Delhi’s former CM Arvind Kejriwal holding meetings from prison, and Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji refusing to quit under charges. The BJP wants to end this culture of shameless politics,” he said.

He accused the Congress of double standards, recalling scams during the UPA regime such as the 2G spectrum, Commonwealth Games and coal block allocation. “Rahul Gandhi tore up an ordinance to protect convicted leaders in the past, but today he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Lalu Prasad Yadav. That is the level of ethics in Congress,” he mocked.

Turning to state politics, he criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for calling support for Telugu candidate Justice B. Sudershan Reddy (retd) in the Vice-President’s contest as a matter of “Telugu pride.” “When M. Venkaiah Naidu was fielded for Vice-President, and G.M.C. Balayogi for Speaker of the Lok Sabha, why did Congress oppose them? Where was Telugu pride then,” he asked.

Kishan Reddy said Congress historically undermined constitutional values, citing the 39th Amendment under Indira Gandhi, which protected her tenure as Prime Minister. “Congress talks about the Constitution in speeches, but true respect lies in action and spirit, not in rhetoric,” he declared.

He said the Modi government was committed to clean politics and reforms — from the Citizenship Amendment Act offering justice to persecuted minorities, to the ban on triple talaq safeguarding Muslim women, and the replacement of outdated British-era criminal laws. “This amendment is another step towards protecting democracy and ensuring morality in governance,” he said.

Builder registers plot after RERA case

Hyderabad:The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has closed a complaint after a buyer successfully got her plot registered, following the Authority’s intervention.

The case was filed by Vaddi Naga Jaya Lakshmi against Vajra Prekon Estates and First Man Group Property Floor, alleging that the builders failed to honour the terms of her sale agreement for an open plot in Balaji Gardens (Mithila E-City), Maheshwaram, Rangareddy district.

Despite paying Rs 30.52 lakh, the registration was not completed. In her complaint, she sought either registration of the plot or a refund of the amount with 18 per cent interest. During the hearing, her counsel informed RERA that the builder went ahead with the registration only after the Authority took up the case.

The complainant later sought `5 lakh as compensation for the stress and legal expenses. RERA rejected this request, stating that no such relief was sought in the original complaint and additional prayers cannot be introduced later.

On Thursday, Akarshana Sathish, and founder of The Open Libraries Initiative, opened a collection of 720 books in Telugu, English and Hindi for the children housed there.

Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, who inaugurated the library, said, “Akarshana is an inspiration. She is creating hope, opportunity, and inspiration for countless children. She even allocated her pocket money for books.” Senior officers Anita Ramachandran and G. Srijana were present at the event.

Akarshana began this work in 2021 after visiting MNJ Cancer Children Hospital. Since then, she has donated 15,675 books and established 23 libraries across Telangana and Tamil Nadu before this one. Her work has been recognised nationally, from a mention by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat to personal appreciation from President Droupadi Murmu, Governor of Telangana, and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

“Books have the power to change lives. Through The Open Libraries, I want to see that every child, no matter their circumstances, gets a chance to learn and grow,” said Akarshana, adding, “across my libraries, I've collected over 16,300 books. My next plan is to set up a 25th library at 57 metro stations across Hyderabad and many of these books have come from the Prime Minister's Office, the National Book Trust of India.”

The Saidabad library adds to her broader effort of creating access to books where they are least available.
