Modi Buckled Under US Pressure on Pakistan, Says Revanth
Highlighting the contributions of Indira Gandhi, the Chief Minister said she was remembered as the "Iron Lady" for teaching Pakistan a tough lesson through retaliation against terrorism-fueled attacks.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of bowing to foreign pressure and failing to respond decisively to Pakistan’s provocations.
Speaking at a public meeting in Hyderabad on Wednesday after paying tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, Revanth Reddy alleged that Modi succumbed to pressure from US President Donald Trump and backed down from retaliating against Pakistan.
“Unlike former prime minister Indira Gandhi, who strongly rejected mediation by the US during the 1971 Indo-Pak war and defeated Pakistan, Modi has failed to act. He has taken a step back, choosing a ceasefire under the US pressure after the Pahalgam incident,” CM Revanth said.
Highlighting the contributions of Indira Gandhi, the Chief Minister said she was remembered as the "Iron Lady" for teaching Pakistan a tough lesson through retaliation against terrorism-fueled attacks. “Indira Gandhi clearly stated that India does not need any mediation from other countries. We are strong enough to protect ourselves,” he added.
Revanth Reddy also accused Union minister G Kishan Reddy of political inaction. “At a time when the nation needed unity, Kishan Reddy remained in deep slumber instead of standing by the Centre,” he said. “Even as we, the Congress, extended unwavering support to the Union government, BJP leaders resorted to attacking Rahul Gandhi in a bid to mask their own failures,” he charged.
The Chief Minister also lashed out at critics who opposed the installation of a statue of Rajiv Gandhi near the Telangana state Secretariat. Calling the opposition to the Rajiv Gandhi statue “narrow-minded,” the Chief Minister highlighted the Gandhi family's legacy of sacrifice for the nation. “History is witness to the fact that the Gandhi family and the Congress have always stood by the nation, even laying down their lives when needed,” he remarked.
Revanth Reddy praised Rajiv Gandhi as a visionary who transformed India through bold policies and brought international recognition to the country. He also credited the former PM with empowering the youth by reducing the voting age to 18, thereby allowing them to actively participate in the democratic process.
“We will not indulge in political brickbats when it comes to national integrity,” the Chief Minister said. “It is our responsibility to support the Indian armed forces and safeguard the country," he said.
