MoD Signs Rs 1,476 Crore BEL Deal To Supply Electronic Systems to Army

The system will modernise Indian Army units and strengthen the indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country. The contract was signed in the presence of defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh at Kartavya Bhawan-2, New Delhi, on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: In a boost to the Indian Army, the ministry of defence signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hyderabad, for the procurement of five ground-based mobile electronic systems worth Rs 1,476 crore, with a minimum 72 per cent indigenous content.

The system will modernise Indian Army units and strengthen the indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country. The contract was signed in the presence of defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh at Kartavya Bhawan-2, New Delhi, on Tuesday.

Officials, in a statement, said the contract reinforced the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s “commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India” in the defence sector.
