Visakhapatnam: Passengers and people had the shock of their life when bombs dropped from a Pakistani fighter jet on the RTC premises in the peaceful Paderu centre in ASR district on Wednesday.

They later sighed with relief upon learning it was a mock drill.

District collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar and SP Amit Bardar participated in the drill organised to prepare people for an emergency.

“We simulated bombs using fire crackers and started fire in a pit to create a war-like scene. We then evacuated people using ambulance services. Fire service personnel brought down people from multi-storied buildings,” the collector told this correspondent.

These unexpected incidents on Wednesday evening left people in a state of shock.

The collector said in the wake of the recent Pahalgam incident, there are intelligence reports about the possibility of a war between India and Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thus ordered mock drills across the country on Wednesday evening to make people aware of the procedures to be followed in the event of a war.

Dinesh Kumar underlined that mutual cooperation and coordination between civil and uniformed services can reduce the severity of a danger.

SP Amit Bardar asked everyone not to spread fake news.

Those present at the mock drill included senior officials and heads of all departments.
