ADILABAD: MNREGS labourers in Adilabad district are struggling under searing 44 °C temperatures, with no shade, medical kits or drinking water available at work sites. Workers say they must complete heavy tasks without basic safeguards against heatstroke.
The labourers are calling on authorities to clear months of pending wage payments.
Despite the extreme heat, many labourers arrive before dawn and leave by noon to avoid the worst warmth. Several workers were rushed to nearby hospitals after collapsing on the job.
