Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy on Saturday inspected major waterlogging-prone areas in Keesara and surrounding localities ahead of the monsoon.
The Commissioner visited Keesara Circle-1, including Laxmipuri Colony, SS Enclave, Employees Colony, Swandra in Yapral ward, Balajinagar Main Road in Jawaharnagar, and the area opposite the dumping yard at Chandrapuri Colony.
During the inspection, he directed officials to immediately clean catchpits in Laxmipuri Colony, Employees Colony and along Balajinagar Main Road. At Swandra, he instructed officials to create an open trench to facilitate the safe discharge of excess rainwater into Nagi Reddy Kunta during the monsoon.
The Commissioner also ordered officials to expedite the construction of the culvert near the dumping yard, ensuring proper gradient and connectivity between Malkaram Lake and the leachate pond for uninterrupted stormwater flow.
Later, the Commissioner chaired a review meeting with contractors, builders and representatives of the Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Processing Agency to strengthen C&D waste management across the city.
He warned that illegal dumping of C&D waste at any location would invite stringent penalties. All stakeholders were directed to ensure scientific disposal of construction and demolition waste only through the authorised processing agency to keep the city clean, safe and environmentally sustainable.
