Nizamabad: Maggidi Balkishan, 38, a Gulf migrant worker, has safely returned to his native Chintaluru village in Jakranpally mandal after suffering serious health issues in Saudi Arabia. His safe return was secured through the efforts of BJP Armoor MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy, bringing relief to his anxious family.
Balkishan had gone to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in search of a livelihood and worked as a driver. In January, he suffered severe brain and neurological problems after collapsing at his employer’s residence. The employer immediately admitted him to a hospital in Riyadh and provided costly treatment that saved his life.
Due to his health condition and financial constraints, Balkishan was unable to return home for months. His family approached Rakesh Reddy, who intervened by coordinating with the Indian embassy in Riyadh. The Telangana NRI Forum, social workers, his employer and embassy officials also played a vital role in ensuring his safe repatriation.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Rakesh Reddy said, “The family was under tremendous stress over his safety. We coordinated with the Indian embassy and the Telugu community in Saudi Arabia to bring him home. Many Gulf migrant workers’ families approach me regularly for help with safe returns.”
