Nalgonda: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Friday said families whose homes or shops are being cleared for encroaching on government land will receive new housing or livelihood support under state welfare schemes.
Speaking after laying foundation stones for cement-concrete roads in the 16th division of Khammam Municipal Corporation, Rao said structures built over canals, rivers and roads will be removed to ensure planned urban development. He directed officials to halt any fresh encroachments at the outset of construction work and stressed that affected residents would be rehabilitated.
The minister also flagged poor sanitation as a public-health risk, urging the civic body to prevent wastewater stagnation in residential drains and to finish road-and-drain upgrades before the monsoon. Municipal commissioner Abhishek Agastya and mayor Punakollu Neeraja were present.
