Hyderabad: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday demanded an unconditional apology from Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to the people of Telangana before holding any public gathering in Hyderabad.
Speaking at Husnabad, Prabhakar expressed reservations over Kalyan’s plan to host the meeting on Tuesday in Hyderabad and accused him of hurting the self‑respect and identity of the newly formed state. He recalled previous controversial statements made by the actor‑politician.
The minister questioned Kalyan’s moral authority to hold meetings on Telangana State Formation Day, reminding that he had opposed the state’s creation. Terming him a “paid actor” in politics, Prabhakar alleged that Kalyan was acting at the behest of the BJP to disrupt local political harmony.
He said while Kalyan could pursue politics in Andhra Pradesh, he had no role or right to interfere in Telangana without addressing past insults.
Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy also voiced concerns over Kalyan’s political overtures and demanded that the AP Deputy CM tender an unconditional apology before holding any meetings in Telangana.
