Minister Ponnam Said Government Is Planning To Introduce Lessons on Road Safety in the Syllabus in the Schools and Distribute Helmets
He interacted with school students and appealed to them to ensure their parents do not ride motorcycles without helmets.

Adilabad: Transport and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday said the state government is planning to introduce road safety lessons in school syllabus as part of efforts to reduce road accidents.
He participated in a road safety awareness programme in Adilabad town, jointly organised by the Transport and Police departments, where helmets were distributed to motorists under the “Arrive Alive” initiative.
The minister said public participation is essential to control road accidents and added that following traffic rules is a social responsibility. He interacted with school students and appealed to them to ensure their parents do not ride motorcycles without helmets.
Along with police and education officials, the minister inaugurated a Children Traffic Awareness Park at Chavara Academy and administered an oath on road safety. He directed officials to ensure that students from other schools also visit the facility for awareness.
A large-scale awareness rally was organised in which nearly 500 students formed a “Helmet Save Lives” human chain at Indira Priyadarshini Stadium. The minister, Adilabad MLA Payal Shankar, SP Akhil Mahajan and Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju participated in the programme.
Ponnam Prabhakar said a large number of road accident deaths were among youth aged 25 to 40 years, leading to loss of breadwinners in families. He said negligence in wearing helmets and traffic violations were major causes of fatalities.
Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan said 400 minors aged between 14 and 17 years were found driving vehicles in the district in the past week, and counselling was conducted for them and their parents. Transport Department Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, RTC MD Nagi Reddy and other officials attended the programme.
