Minister Orders Speedy Renovation of Bhadrachalam Temple
He stressed the need to prioritise works on the north side of the temple and complete them quickly
NALGONDA: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday instructed officials to complete renovation works of Sri Seetharamachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam at least 15 days before the Godavari pushkarams.
Inspecting the ongoing works at the temple, he said renovation should not cause inconvenience to devotees and quality must be ensured. He directed the commissioner of endowments over the phone to appoint a special officer to supervise the works and review progress every 10 days. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation stone for temple renovation and development on Sri Rama Navami.
The minister pointed out that ₹351 crore had been sanctioned by the state government for the project, in addition to ₹75 crore spent on land acquisition for expansion. The target is to complete the works fully by the Godavari pushkarams in 2027. He said the renovation would be carried out as per agama shastra, keeping in mind the temple’s historic significance and sanctity.
He added that measures were being taken for development of pushkar ghats, facilities for devotees and infrastructure for the festival. He stressed the need to prioritise works on the north side of the temple and complete them quickly. Departments concerned should coordinate to avoid delays in approvals and permissions, he said.
To speed up the work, he instructed officials to engage 25 per cent more workers. Retaining walls, concrete structures and other constructions should be completed within the stipulated period. Skilled sculptors should be engaged for carving devotional and religious decorative forms in stone for use in the renovation.
District collector Ankit, Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao, Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateshwarlu and ITDA Project Officer B Rahul were present.
