Minister: Govt to Develop Temples Along Godavari Ahead of Pushkaralu

The minister said the government had allocated funds in advance for temple development along the river, from Basara to Bhadrachalam

Karimnagar: Welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Sunday said the state government would develop temples along the Godavari ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled in 2027.

During a visit to Kotilingala in Velgatur mandal of Jagtial district, he performed puja at the Sri Koteshwara Swamy temple and reviewed proposed development works.

The minister said the government had allocated funds in advance for temple development along the river, from Basara to Bhadrachalam.

He said Rs 10 crore each had been earmarked for development of temples at Dharmapuri and Kotilingala. In Dharmapuri constituency, works worth Rs 117 crore were sanctioned.

At Kotilingala, pushkara ghats would be constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore and a road from Kotilingala to Pashigam would be laid with another Rs 8 crore, he said.

He added that Rs 10 crore would be spent on development of the Dharmapuri Ugra Narasimha Swamy temple, while a four-lane road from Velgatur to Kotilingala would be taken up at Rs 20 crore.

Mini tank bunds would also be developed at Kotilingala and Rajakkapalli, he said, adding that facilities would be created for devotees attending the festival.
