MIM, Cong. Clash Over EF Distribution Leads To Police Cases

HYDERABAD: Clashes between Congress and AIMIM broken risen in parts of the city over the handling and distribution forms for the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll, often resulting in police cases in the city.

Under Balapur police limits, MIM workers barged into a Congress office in Wadi‑e‑Saleheen of Shaheennagar near Pahadishareef on June 30 and allegedly threatened a Congress worker, Sd. Niyaz.

“Mohd. Abdulla Sadiq, along with some MIM members, came to the party office. They threatened that if the office was not removed, they would burn it down and kill Niyaz. They also threatened him with a knife, abused the Congress in‑charge in filthy language, and warned them not to enter the area. Because of these threats, he feared for his life,” read the FIR in the case.

In a separate incident under the same police limits, Congress booth level agent in‑charge (64 Division) Fazil Qadri allegedly received threats while engaged in door‑to‑door election work on July 1. “At that time, Thaleb (accused), along with some other MIM members, came there, abused them in filthy language, and threatened them,” says the FIR copy.

Both Abdulla Sadiq and Thaleb were booked for criminal intimidation. Investigation is being undertaken by the Balapur inspector.

Following an incident near Charminar, under Hussaini Alam police station, a case of trespassing was booked against a Congress leader on a complaint by student Faisal Baig. According to the FIR, Congress worker Amaan Ullah Shareef, along with two others, trespassed into the complainant’s house and misbehaved with BLO officer Amjad Hussain and others present. “Amaan Ullah Shareef started video recording the incident and used filthy and abusive language against them,” the FIR copy reads.

The Congress has strongly condemned the booking of a case against its worker, terming it a “BLO trap.” Hyderabad district Congres president Khalid Saifullah alleged AIMIM‑linked pressure tactics against leaders questioning SIR irregularities in Hyderabad.

Rejecting the allegations, Saifullah said Congress leaders had gone to the location only after being directed by the BLO. He claimed the issue arose because the BLO of Polling Booth No. 77 was allegedly operating from the house of an AIMIM leader instead of distributing forms through proper door‑to‑door visits as directed by the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India. He said he has sufficient evidence to prove his claim.
