MIM Chief Asad Owaisi Welcomes SC’s Order to ECI to Consider Aadhar and Ration Cards for Voter Verification
It may be noted that the Supreme Court had suggested, prima facie, that, in addition to 11 documents listed by the Election Commission of India, the three more documents should be considered.

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi welcomed the Supreme Court’s suggestion to the Election Commission to consider Aadhar, voter ID and ration cards as identification proof for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly election.
It may be noted that the Supreme Court had suggested, prima facie, that, in addition to 11 documents listed by the Election Commission of India, the three more documents should be considered. The MIM hoped that the precedent set in the 1995 judgment in the ‘Babu Lal Hussein case’ would be followed in letter and spirit.
AIMIM Bihar president Akhtarul Iman had also challenged the ECI’s SIR before the Supreme Court, Owaisi said.
