Methodist Church Holds 38th Hyd Regional Meet After 15-Year Gap at Chitambar Hall

The deacons’ conference was conducted alongside the three-day event

Hyderabad: The 38th Hyderabad Regional Conference of the Methodist Church was held at Chitambar Hall, after a gap of 15 years. The deacons’ conference was conducted alongside the three-day event.

Representatives from nine districts, including district superintendents, clergy, hospital superintendents, principals, correspondents and delegates, attended the conference. Bishop A. Simeon, resident and presiding Bishop of the Hyderabad Regional Conference, chaired the proceedings, while Leena Gloria Simeon led the deacons’ conference. Members of the women’s society welcomed the delegates.

During the session, the Bishop’s report on the status of the church was presented. The session was chaired by Rev Dr D.H. Paul, senior minister, and the report was accepted.

The Bishop said several schools, hostels and hospitals had been revived and refurbished to serve underprivileged sections. He directed that institutions be upgraded with improved technology and infrastructure. Rev. Muthu John was elected conference secretary. Rev. A. Steven, executive secretary, presented his report and outlined upcoming plans.

Cultural programmes were held as part of the event. Marathi-speaking members performed the traditional Lezim dance, while students of Stanley Girls School presented folk dance performances. Leena Gloria Simeon addressed the gathering on faith and service, and spoke about compassion.
