CCS, Hussainialam police nab 29-year-old after tip-off; weapon sourced from Madhya Pradesh

Hyderabad: A team of the Central Crime Station (CCS) and Hussainialam police arrested 29‑year‑old merchant Amjad Khan on Thursday for possessing a country‑made pistol. Police said he was using the weapon to threaten people.

Khan, a resident of Khilwath in Hussainialam, had recently returned from Saudi Arabia. Acting on a tip‑off, police seized a 0.7 mm calibre pistol and a mobile phone from him.

During questioning, Khan reportedly said he bought the pistol 10 months ago for ₹80,000 from Avinash alias Kallu of Madhya Pradesh, through a mediator Amith from BHEL, Hyderabad. Police said Khan kept the weapon to intimidate people. Avinash and Amith are absconding. Efforts are on to trace them.

Further investigation into the source of the weapon and its intended use is underway.

Booked for Noise Pollution

Police stated that no loud sound is permitted after 10 pm, regardless of occasion. They warned that function halls are not exempt, and cases will be filed against organisers, operators and hall management if rules are violated.

Authorities urged organisers and venue managers to ensure sound systems are shut after 10 pm, stressing strict enforcement to protect public peace.

Stray Dogs Maul Another Child

Hyderabad: A four‑year‑old boy was seriously injured in a stray dog attack in Shanti Nagar colony near Rajendranagar on Thursday afternoon.

The child, Vedant Reddy, was playing outside his house when a pack of dogs attacked him. Locals rescued him and he was shifted to a private hospital with severe injuries.

Police said no case has been registered so far.

This is the third reported attack on children this week. On December 29, a three‑year‑old girl in Attapur suffered facial injuries requiring 18 stitches. In another case, a five‑year‑old boy was injured in Suraram.

On Friday, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised the issue in the Assembly. “We need to control the growing population of stray dogs. Many children and elderly citizens are frequently being attacked due to this,” he said.
