Mehfil Restaurant Flagged for Hygiene Lapses

The team also observed unhygienic food grading practices and said medical fitness certificates of food handlers were not produced.

Hyderabad:A routine food safety inspection at Mehfil Restaurant in Hitech City found several hygiene and operational shortcomings, prompting authorities to issue an improvement notice and direct the management to take corrective measures.

The inspection was carried out on Saturday by food safety teams of the Commissionerate of Food Safety under the Cyberabad Commissionerate Municipal Corporation.

Officials noted that the restaurant had maintained segregation between vegetarian and non‑vegetarian preparation areas, food handlers were using hairnets, and no pest infestation was observed. However, inspectors found inadequate kitchen space, wet floors, accumulation of food waste, and roomali roti preparation being carried out in a construction area, which was stopped immediately.

The team also observed unhygienic food grading practices and said medical fitness certificates of food handlers were not produced.

Based on the findings, authorities issued an improvement notice and instructed the management to comply with food safety norms. In the hygiene assessment, the restaurant scored 68 out of 102 marks, translating to 67 per cent compliance.

Food safety officials said routine inspections are being conducted across Cyberabad to improve hygiene standards in food establishments and ensure compliance with regulations.
