Meet Funding Deadlines, CEO Tells RUPPs

Telangana CEO stresses strict deadlines for party funding and expenditure filings

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy on Monday directed registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs) to adhere to deadlines for submitting funding and expenditure reports, warning that late submissions will not be entertained.

“Any contribution report received after the due date shall be treated as non-compliance and shall not be taken on record for any purpose,” Reddy said in a top-priority communication to the parties.

The directive requires RUPPs in the state to file contribution reports under Sections 29B and 29C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951; audited annual accounts; and complete election expenditure statements within the prescribed timelines.

The order follows guidance from the Election Commission of India (ECI), which has flagged widespread delays in submissions by political parties nationwide. The move is part of the Commission’s ongoing push for transparency and accountability in political funding, including recent action against non-compliant RUPPs in several states.
