Meenakshi Says Yatra Inspired by Rahul, Sonia

Earlier in the day, a Shramadanam programme was held in the Andole Assembly constituency in Sangareddy district. Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha, MP Suresh Shetkar, and others participated in the event.

Nizamabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan said that the Janahitha Padayatra was launched, inspired by Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. “Two years ago, Rahul Gandhi gave us the direction for padayatras,” she said, adding that his successful completion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra helped unite the nation.

Meenakshi Natarajan, along with minister for panchayat raj, rural development and district in-charge D. Anasuya Seethakka, and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, participated in the Janahita Padayatra in the Armoor Assembly constituency on Saturday. After hoisting the national flag, the yatra commenced from Aloor Bypass Road to Perkit via the old bus stand and Dr B.R. Ambedkar Chowrasta.

Speaking on the occasion, Meenakshi Natarajan said Rahul Gandhi often refers to the Telangana model, which, she noted, stands for unity and should serve as a national example, especially in implementing caste census. “We will protest in Delhi demanding the 42 per cent BC reservation bill,” she said.

Recalling the Telangana movement, she said it was the sacrifices of youth that moved the then AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to grant separate statehood to Telangana. Referring to Bihar, she alleged that 65 lakh (6.5 million) voter names were illegally deleted out of fear of electoral defeat.

She said the country is currently witnessing two models: the Congress model of unity and the BJP model of division. “We must remain vigilant against BJP’s conspiracies. If you want the welfare schemes implemented by the Congress government in Telangana to continue, support the party again in the upcoming local body elections,” she urged.

Minister D. Anasuya Seethakka and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud also addressed the gathering. AICC leader Sampath Kumar, several MLAs, and party workers were present.
