Meenakshi Natarajan De Facto CM: BJP

Maheshwar Reddy slams Meenakshi Natarajan’s ministerial meeting, says CM Revanth Reddy is sidelined.

Hyderabad: BJP floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy on Monday alleged that Congress affairs-in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan was acting as the de facto Chief Minister by holding a meeting with ministers at the Secretariat on the University of Hyderabad (UoH) land issue. Expressing shock at the development, Maheshwar Reddy said the incident exposed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s helplessness and claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was directly handling governance in Telangana.

Speaking to reporters in Nirmal, Maheshwar Reddy recalled that Natarajan had, upon assuming charge as party affairs in-charge, had clearly stated that she would not interfere in government functioning. However, by convening a meeting with ministers while the Chief Minister was present in the city, she had overstepped her role, he alleged.

“Just as former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi once humiliated then Chief Minister T. Anjaiah, his son Rahul Gandhi is now interfering in Telangana’s governance through Meenakshi Natarajan,” Maheshwar Reddy claimed. He added that previous party in-charges such as Digvijay Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Veerappa Moily and Vayalar Ravi had never intervened in administrative affairs. Maheshwar Reddy said Revanth Reddy was already weakened and predicted that he would be removed from the post soon.
