Medak SP Visits Paddy Procurement Centre, Responds to Farmers’ Concerns

Farmers flag transport delays and lack of tarpaulins at the procurement centre.

Hyderabad: Medak superintendent of police, D.V. Srinivasa Rao, visited a paddy procurement centre in the Dayara area of Medak on Friday and responded to farmers’ concerns over delays in grain transportation and inadequate protection from rains.

Accompanied by DSP Prasanna Kumar, SB inspector Sandeep Reddy and SI Narayana, the SP inspected the procurement centre and interacted with farmers to understand the issues at the ground level.

Farmers informed the SP that the procurement process was being delayed due to an insufficient number of lorries for transporting paddy to rice mills and the lack of black tarpaulins to protect grain from unexpected rainfall.

Responding immediately, Srinivasa Rao spoke to additional collector Nagesh and urged to provide tarpaulins and other facilities at the earliest. The additional collector reportedly assured immediate action.

The SP also instructed Prasanna Kumar to coordinate with the concerned departments to ensure adequate lorries were available for shifting paddy to rice mills.

Srinivasa Rao stressed that officials should remain vigilant to ensure farmers do not face inconvenience or injustice and said district police would continue extending support to resolve farmers’ grievances in coordination with the administration.
