Medak MP Urges Farmers To Build Recharge Pits

The construction of recharge pits should be taken up across villages like a mass movement: Raghunandan Rao

HYDERABAD: Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao has urged farmers to use the ₹36,000 financial assistance provided under the VB‑G RAM‑G scheme to construct water recharge pits. He said the pits would help revive borewells that have dried up due to adverse weather conditions linked to El Niño.

The MP inaugurated the first recharge system built under the scheme at a school in Chinna Nizampet village of Bhoompeta mandal, Siddipet district. He said farmers should act quickly to improve the water‑holding capacity of their borewells and conserve every drop of water.

Raghunandan Rao said the construction of recharge pits should be taken up across villages like a mass movement to prepare for a possible drought. He asked sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, public representatives and officials to begin work on a war footing.

He said local initiatives would help strengthen groundwater levels and protect farmers from future shortages. The VB‑G RAM‑G scheme provides financial support to farmers for building recharge structures. Proper use of the assistance would help improve groundwater levels and reduce the impact of dry weather, he said.
