Medak: Heavy Rains Bring Water to Ghanpur Anicut Near Edupayala Temple

According to the Met Department, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Medak and other parts of central and western Telangana.

Medak: Telangana has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past two days, leading to waterlogging on roads and disruption to normal life. In Haveli Ghanpur mandal of Medak district, heavy rains extensively also led to the water levels rising in the Dhoop Singh Thanda stream in the mandal.
This has disrupted traffic to the surrounding villages, and power supply has been cut off in the tribal hamlets in the area since last night.
However, farmers are expressing joy as the Ghanpur anicut, a medium irrigation project built across the Manjeera River near the famous Edupayala Vana Durga Bhavani Temple, is overflowing. Meanwhile, the Singur project has received its first inflows of the season. Water from the Singur Dam flows downstream into the Nizam Sagar Dam via the Manjeera River, acting as its primary upstream balancing reservoir.
According to the Met Department, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Medak and other parts of central and western Telangana during late afternoon and evening hours. Officials have urged people to stay alert and avoid venturing near overflowing tanks and streams.
