Med Associations Slam MLA’s Stance On Quacks
IMA expressed grave concern over Dr Satyanarayana’s participation in the gathering, during which he referred to such persons as “doctors” and openly extended support to them.

Hyderabad: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Telangana, has strongly condemned the actions of Manakondur MLA and practising doctor, Dr Kavvampally Satyanarayana, who recently participated in a gathering organised by unlicensed practitioners. The doctors alleged that this was public endorsement made in support of unqualified and fake medical practitioners (quacks) by an elected member who is a doctor himself.
IMA expressed grave concern over Dr Satyanarayana’s participation in the gathering, during which he referred to such persons as “doctors” and openly extended support to them. “Such public statements are deeply unfortunate and highly irresponsible, especially coming from an elected representative who also holds a medical degree,” said Dr Dwarakanath Reddy, IMA state president.
The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) also condemned the minister’s comments. “This blatant endorsement of quackery by an elected public representative poses a grave threat to public health, constitutes a serious breach of medical ethics and undermines the credibility and safety of the healthcare system. It demoralises qualified medical professionals who adhere to years of rigorous training, licensure and ethical practice. Such actions also violate multiple legal provisions, including the National Medical Council Act, Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration Act and various High Court orders prohibiting unqualified persons from practising medicine,” the doctors said. They urged the state medical council to take immediate and decisive action as the statutory body responsible for regulating medical practice in the state.
