MDMA worth Rs 1.78L seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the East Zone task force along with Karkhana police arrested a car driver who procured drugs from Mumbai to be sold here for year-end celebrations. The accused, Shaik Mohammed, 31, a car driver and native of Kadapa district Andhra Pradesh, said that he purchased it through one mediator Chand Peer of Mumbai to be sold in twin cities for higher rates, police said.
Mohammed was arrested in Dhobi Ghat Karkhana while he was trying to sell the contraband to customers and seized 13.9 grams of MDMA worth `1.78 lakh from his possession. The accused admitted during interrogation that he bought MDMA for Rs 3,500 per gram from peddlers in Mumbai Vicky and Rohit as suggested by the mediator, said city task force additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao said.
The accused was handed over to Karkhana police along with seized property and later on Monday, was produced before court for judicial remand.
