MCR TIMS Gets 600 OP Patients After Inauguration; EC Clears NIMS Tariffs For TIMS, Infrastructure Upgrades

HYDERABAD: With the Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) at Sanathnagar receiving an average of 600 out-patients a day, its executive council, at its first meeting on Tuesday, approved a series of measures to strengthen hospital services, standardise tariffs and improve infrastructure.
At the meeting, Dr MCR Tims director Dr A, Narendra Kumar briefed health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on the functioning of the institute. The executive council approved the adoption of service rules of the Nizam’s Institute for Medical Sciences (Nims) for recruitment of doctors and staff. It also gave its nod to implementing the existing NIMS tariff structure at Tims, bringing uniformity in the charging structure between the two major state-run medical institutions and facilitate better financial planning.
The council also approved arrangements for banking services to enable financial transactions of Tims-Sanathnaghar to be managed through a trust and retention account (TRA).

Dr Kumar informed the minister that surgeries would begin once the remaining sterilisation-related process was completed.
To improve facilities for patients, attendants and staff, the executive council approved several infrastructure proposals, including a multi-level car parking facility and an additional toilet complex for patient attendants. The council also approved construction of hostels for postgraduate students, following the government’s decision to start a PG college on the lines of the one at Nims.
Health department principal secretary Dr Christina Z. Chongthu, TGM¬SIDC MD Dr Gaurav Uppal, medical education director Dr A. Vani, public health director Dr Ravinder Nayak and Nims director Dr Rahul Devaraj attended the meeting.
