Hyderabad too remained hot, with temperatures across the city ranging between 42°C and 42.5°C in areas such as Uppal, Kapra, Serilingampally and Jubilee Hills.

Hyderabad: Temperatures in the state and parts of southern India are likely to remain above normal this month, according to the India Meteorological Department’s monthly outlook released on Friday. The forecast also indicates a likelihood of more heatwave days in select regions of the country, even as minimum temperatures are expected to remain above normal in many areas.
On the ground, Telangana has already been witnessing sustained heat. On Friday, the highest temperature in the state was 45.9°C at Ramagundam. Nalgonda, Jagitial, Adilabad and Nirmal districts recorded temperatures above 45°C. The state’s average maximum temperature stood at 42.6°C, about 1.6°C above normal.
Hyderabad too remained hot, with temperatures across the city ranging between 42°C and 42.5°C in areas such as Uppal, Kapra, Serilingampally and Jubilee Hills.
Rainfall activity was minimal. The state recorded just 0.1 mm average rainfall on May 1, with only isolated pockets like Bhadradri Kothagudem receiving any measurable rain.
Seasonal trends showed a contrast. While Telangana has recorded surplus rainfall over the year, summer rainfall remains below normal, with a 43% deficit so far.
The IMD also noted that rainfall during May across the country is likely to be normal to above normal overall, though some regions may see lower activity. With temperatures already crossing 45°C in multiple districts and limited rainfall relief, heat conditions are expected to continue in Telangana in the coming days.
