MA&UD Calls Upon Corporates to Partner in Lakes Development

Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department has called upon corporate organisations to come forward and support the development and rejuvenation of lakes in Hyderabad through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
The appeal was made at CSR Round Table 2.0, organised under the aegis of the MA&UD and Sports department with the objective of strengthening corporate participation in the development and rejuvenation of city lakes.
Speaking at the programme, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD, Jayesh Ranjan, and HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath called upon corporate organisations to support the development of smaller lakes in the city through their CSR initiatives.
The officials highlighted the importance of lakes in maintaining the city’s ecological balance, meeting its future water requirements and mitigating the impact of urban flooding. They emphasised that protecting and rejuvenating the city’s water bodies is essential for building a sustainable Hyderabad.
Ranganath gave a detailed power-point presentation on the lake development works undertaken by HYDRAA under the first and second phases. He also informed the gathering that the government has approved the third phase of lake development works, paving the way for further rejuvenation of water bodies across the city.
He urged corporate organisations and citizens to join hands with government agencies in developing and protecting Hyderabad’s lakes for future generations.
He said that greater corporate participation through CSR initiatives, particularly in the development of smaller lakes, would not only strengthen environmental conservation but also make a significant contribution towards building a sustainable and resilient Hyderabad.
The CSR partnership initiative seeks to bring together the Government, corporate sector and citizens in a collective effort to protect Hyderabad’s lakes and strengthen the city’s environmental and water security.
