Massive Veld Fire Guts Several Trees in Velugumatla Urban Park
On receiving the information, three fire fighting vehicles rushed to the urban park and brought the fire under control after three hours of pain-staking efforts.

Nalgonda: Different varieties of trees spread over 15 acres at Velugumatla urban park in Khammam district were gutted in a major fire late Thursday night.
The veld fire, triggered in a near bush at an agricultural field by an unidentified person, spread to the sprawling 135-acre urban park.
On receiving the information, three fire fighting vehicles rushed to the urban park and brought the fire under control after three hours of pain-staking efforts.
District forest officer Siddharth Vikram Singh said that a large fire broke out at the fringes of Velugumatla urban park.
“Upon receiving the information, we promptly sought the assistance of the fire department, the municipal authorities, Khammam range staff and local residents to contain the damage. The fire line played a crucial role in preventing further spread of the fire, despite strong wind conditions. A detailed inquiry will be conducted and necessary action will be taken against those responsible for the incident,” he said.
